“The core of man’s spirit comes from new experiences”

Sean Penn’s “Into the Wild” tells the true-to-life story of Chris McCandless, an upper-middle-class college graduate who leaves everything and everyone behind to find his true self in the mountains of Alaska. It kind of reminded me a bit of The Little Prince with all the interesting individuals he met and the life truths revealed to him along the way.
I think a lot of people, myself included, have this fantasy of leaving everything behind— work, school, your current reality and what else have you— in exchange for something terribly uncertain, but something that will make you feel the young blood gushing through your veins again. Being highly conscious that you are alive: oh that is definitely worth the risk the unknown brings. So you can imagine how much I visually devoured this film, feeding my desires of actually pursuing my own Great Perhaps. I promised myself I will. The truth is, many people dream but only a few have the guts to actually do it.
The above photo is one of my favorite scenes in the film. Sweet slumber in an abandoned trailer in the middle of the wilderness. A moment of perfect contentment in the midst of uncertainty . Strangely appealing.
